ETH 4h review: one candle — a touch, a breakout and a wick touch
This review covers two levels on the ETHUSDT (Bybit) 4-hour chart for October 8–16, 2026. There is no forecast or advice here: only what already happened on the chart and which messages Level Alert would have sent. All times are UTC.
The levels
The watch was "added" on October 13 at 12:00, with price around 2,500 — between the levels.
- Resistance (R) — the October 12, 04:00 candle: High 2,578.45, Close 2,563.35. The top of the bounce after the October 7–8 sell-off.
- Support (S) — the October 8, 16:00 candle: Low 2,405.79, Close 2,463.23. The bottom of the sell-off. On October 13 at 00:00 price had already come back here (low 2,407) and was bought quickly — so the level looked solid.
Zones in each level mode:
| Average | By close | By wick | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resistance | 2,563.35 – 2,578.45 | 2,563.35 | 2,578.45 |
| Support | 2,405.79 – 2,463.23 | 2,463.23 | 2,405.79 |
The support zone in "Average" mode is $57 wide, 2.3% of the price. On 4h candles are longer than on 1h, and so are the zones.
What happened next
- October 14, 13:00 — into the support zone. Within the hour price dropped to 2,449.79 — $13 below the top of the zone. The 12:00–16:00 4-hour candle closed at 2,428.70, inside the zone.
- October 14, 20:00 — wick touch. The hourly low was 2,405.48: the 2,405.79 line was hit by 31 cents. The next hour reached 2,402.28, but the 20:00–00:00 candle closed at 2,420.62, above the wick.
- October 15, 02:00 — the drop. Within the hour price fell to 2,315 — 3.8% below the wick of the source candle. 13 hourly candles in a row (02:00–14:00) closed below 2,405.79.
- October 15, 14:00–22:00 — the reclaim. Price bounced from 2,322 to 2,466.66, above the whole support zone. On October 16 at 11:00 — 2,493.
- October 16, 15:00–18:00 — back in the zone. Price returned into the zone and at 17:00 went below the wick again, to 2,391.51.
Price never reached resistance: the high after the watch was added was 2,529.80 (October 14, 08:00), $34 short of the zone.
Which messages would have arrived
A watch is removed after its first signal — so each mode sends one message.
| Level mode | Instantly on touch | On candle close (4h) |
|---|---|---|
| Average | 14.10, 13:00 — support touch near 2,463 | 14.10, 16:00 — touch (close 2,428.70 inside the zone) |
| By close | same as "Average" | 14.10, 16:00 — breakout (close below 2,463.23) |
| By wick | 14.10, 20:00 — touch at 2,405.79 | 15.10, 00:00 — wick touch (close 2,420.62) |
In "On candle close" mode the same October 14 candle gave a "touch" and a "breakout", while "By wick" fired eight hours later as a "wick touch".
What the review shows
- The signal type depends on where the zone's edges are. In "On candle close" mode the service looks at where the candle closed: beyond the zone — breakout, inside — touch, outside (only the wick entered the zone) — wick touch. In "By close" mode the zone is a single line, so any close below it is a breakout. In "Average" mode the zone reaches down to the wick, and the same close lands inside — a touch. This is not a contradiction, just different zones.
- A "breakout" does not mean "only down from here", and a "touch" does not mean "the level held". After the 16:00 breakout price kept closing above the wick for ten more hours, then fell 3.8%, then came back above the zone and dropped into it again. The message tells you where price is now; what to do is your call.
- A level that already produced a bounce may not hold. On October 13 price was bought from 2,407, and on the next visit a day and a half later support gave way.
- Higher timeframes mean wider zones. $57 on 4h is normal for a candle with a long wick. If you need a narrow zone, use "By close" or "By wick", or enter the level manually.
- There is no watch after the signal. The October 15 reclaim and the new dip below the wick on October 16 came without messages: the watch was removed after the first signal. Want to keep tracking — add a new watch after the signal.
This review is based on 4-hour and hourly candles. The service checks every price update, so a real "Instantly on touch" signal would have arrived within the stated hour, at the moment of the touch. An "On candle close" signal arrives when the 4-hour candle closes (00:00, 04:00, 08:00… UTC).
This review shows how a level played out in the past. It is not investment advice or a signal to trade.
